Night before Surgery
(sometime shortly before going to bed):
- Take the 1st dose of the prescribed Antibiotic (i.e. Amoxicillin, E.E.S., Erythromycin et al)
- Use Afrin nasal spray one “puff” in each nostril
- Take one over the counter Antihistamine (i.e. Benadryl, Sudafed et al)
Day of Surgery
Morning Appointments:
- Do not eat any solid food
- You may have up to 4 oz. of clear liquids but no caffeine
- Take 2nd dose of the prescribed Antibiotic (i.e. Amoxicillin, E.E.S., Erythromycin et al)
- Use Afrin nasal spray one “puff” in each nostril approximately one hour before your appointment
- Take one over the counter Antihistamine (i.e. Benadryl, Sudafed et al) approximately one hour before your appointment
- Take one Ibuprofen or 2 Advil one hour before your appointment
Afternoon Appointments:
- You may eat a light breakfast if it is at least 6 hours prior to your appointment
- If less than 6 hours prior to your appointment, you may have up to 4 oz. of clear liquids but no caffeine
- Take 2nd dose of the prescribed Antibiotic in the early morning and the 3rd dose an hour prior to your appointment (i.e. Amoxicillin, E.E.S., Erythromycin et al)
- Use Afrin nasal spray one “puff” in each nostril approximately one hour before your appointment
- Take one over the counter Antihistamine (i.e. Benadryl, Sudafed et al) approximately one hour before your appointment
- Take one Ibuprofen or 2 Advil one hour before your appointment
You will need someone to take you home following your appointment. Please provide a telephone number where your ride can be reached. Get a good nights rest before your appointment.
